Last Updated 29 July 2010, 16:25 IST

Rosaiah told newsmen here on Thursday night that the Prime Minister's Office called him over phone this evening and informed that the Prime Minister convened a meeting at 7 pm on August 2 with Chief Ministers of two states to resolve the Babhli issue. "This is a follow-up to our all-party delegation's representation to the Prime Minister on July 26 on the illegal irrigation projects being built by Maharashtra on Godavari. We wanted a political solution to the problem and we shall once again present our case effectively to the Prime Minister," Rosaiah said.

"I am hopeful that the meeting with Prime Minister will result in a resolution (of the inter-state dispute)," the Chief Minister said, adding "we need not go to the meeting with pessimism." As a prelude to the meeting with the Prime Minister, he has convened an all-party meeting once again on August 1 to discuss the Babhli issue.

"All the parties in the state have endorsed our viewpoint on the Babhli issue in one voice. We will seek further suggestions, if any, from the political parties," the Chief Minister added.
