<p>Minister for Youth Services and Sports Goolihatti Shekar while taking part in the Maneyapanda 20-10 Kodava family hockey in the month of May had visited the swimming pool and had urged the authorities to send a proposal for its repair. <br /><br />Now the government had given its green signal to sanction Rs 80 lakh for its repair. When contacted, Deputy Commissioner who is also the President of District Stadium Committee K H Ashwathanarayana Gowda said “PWD officials have been asked to prepare an action plan for the swimming pool. As soon as the action plan is ready, the proposal will be submitted to the government for sanctioning the fund.” <br /><br />Kodagu is known for sports. In fact, even the State government had been releasing additional grants to the district to carry out sports activities. Along with the development of outdoor stadium, the work on the indoor stadium is also under progress. <br /><br />The development of stadium will help in nurturing the sports personnel in the district, which had produced several sports talents. According to sources, the action plan prepared by the private persons for developing swimming pool was rejected by the government. In this background, the PWD have to prepare an action plan. A proposal will be submitted to the government through Deputy Commissioner for releasing the fund. Sports department will release funds to the DC’s account. The tender will be invited after district administration transfers the money to PWD, added sources. In fact, the pipes to the swimming pool was getting rusted without proper maintainance. <br /></p>
