On day three of the four-day clash at the Chinnaswamy stadium on Wednesday, East resumed at their overnight 133 for five, needing a further 90 to make North bat a second time after conceding a whopping 223-run first-innings deficit, and crumbed to 188 all out as Sandeep took five for 56 to go with first-innings figures of four for 18. Support for him came from Sunny Sherawat, who picked up four for 57.

Weather permitting, a close finish is on the cards at the JIRS ground on Thursday’s final day in the game between ZCA South and All India Universities U-19. A Srinivas’ spell of six for 49 helped South snatch a slender seven-run on the first innings as AIU were dismissed for 268, chasing Zouth’s 275 all out. By stumps, despite an unbeaten 100 by KL Rahul, South had subsided to 167 for nine in their second essay, Shaurya picking up four for 39. South lead by 174 with one wicket standing.
