Aditya surges to maiden victory

Juniors Kris Heidorn (Germany), Jann-Hendrik Ubben (Germany) and Arne Larisch (Germany) clinched four to six places in their Scirocco R cars.

“It is an indescribable feeling. My first victory outside of India and at the famous Nurburgring straight away, that’s simply fantastic. It’s an amazing feeling to win at this historic track. I knew that I’m quick enough,” a jubilant Aditya said.

The 14-lap race offered numerous overtaking manoeuvres. Maciek Steinhof managed a perfect start – from position eight, he made up as many as four places on the first lap. But Aditya, who started from the pole, was not too troubled.

Nurburgring legend Olaf proved his prowess as well. He made clever use of his additional push-to-pass power and took third place on the podium on his return to touring car racing.

“Just after the re-start following the safety car period I was a little worried because Steinhof was right behind me. But I managed to defend my lead. It’s my first international victory and I hope for many more to come,” he said.

Aditya’s father Kamlesh Patel said, "The race was a complete nailbiter, starting on pole Aditya had his job cut out. It was closely fought but on lap-7 when the safety car came out the whole field bunched up again. When the safety car came in, Aditya got a brilliant re-start and built up on his lead all the way till the end.”
