Kaspersky betting big on mobile data security market in India

Currently, there are more than 10-million smart phone- users in India and the number is growing rapidly."With the number of smart phones steadily increasing, we see a huge number of people opting for security solutions to protect their data. I believe we will be a major player in this segment over the next 4-5 years," Kaspersky's Managing Director (South Asia), Gun Suk Ling, told PTI here.

"Typically in India, most of the enterprises are going mobile and providing their employees with smart phones as a work tool. These phones contain many business-critical data, which falling in the wrong hands could be disastrous for the company. Security solutions like Kaspersky mobile security suite can help to reduce this risk," she said.

According to Gun, the Kaspersky Mobile Security 8.0 suite is designed to ensure the protection of mobile devices against malware programs, unsolicited calls and messages. It also provides the anti-theft feature which helps to locate the phone if it is lost or stolen, and remotely blocks or wipes the missing device.

It also allows the user to customise its features, and view protection status as well as the event log in which the program's actions are recorded.Kaspersky started operations in India in 2007. Recently, the company launched the latest versions of its flagship consumer products Kaspersky internet security 2011 and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011.
