Canara Bank inks MoU with UIDAI

The Bank has opened 22 lakh no-frill accounts across the country and initially, the bank would cover all no-frill  account holders for issue of Unique identification  (UID) number.  It would cover other account holders like saving bank accounts to the tune of 257 lakhs and current account holders to the tune 17 lakhs. When it takes up the new enrollment  for issue of Smart Cards, it will take up the enrollment simultaneously for the issue of UID numbers.
