Addressing a press meet, he said the representatives of a private firm had made the farmers to believe that the ginger treated with ...mill and ...dar will not cause fruit rot disease (kole roga). The farmers of Mavinakere, Kanchenahalli, K R Pete, Valagerehalli, Hadihalli, Kesavinamane, Kundur had grown ginger after treating the seeds in the chemicals supplied by the private firms in hundreds of acre land.

He said the horticulture department had totally neglected ginger. The department officials are not proving information on the use of chemicals in ginger. Accordingly, the farmers have blindly believed the private firms representatives. He said the representatives who sold the chemicals are not available for the farmers. The company officials are misguiding the farmers
by giving details on ‘soil borer,’ ‘Raijome rot,’ ‘dry rot’ diseases, he alleged.

“The company officials should visit the farms and guide the farmers along with bearing the loss incurred by the farmers,” he said.

He said that the DC should also give priority to give justice to the farmers. “The agriculture and horticulture department officials should conduct joint survey and action should be initiated against the private firms and its representatives,” he demanded.
