JOIN USJustice B Sreenivasa Gowda advised both Rahul Patil and his wife Prachi Patil to settle the dispute amicably. However, at the mediation centre, both parties put forward their arguments. Before going for mediation, Prachi refused to accept the settlement,
“I have suffered a lot. My husband and in-laws ill- treated me and I want justice,” she told reporters. She said President Pratibha Patil had fixed their marriage but she did not respond to her repeated pleas. Her counsel Ashok Kumar Naroney submitted that they had evidence to prove physical and mental torture charges.
Rahul’s mother Aruna G Patil and sister Priya Singh Patil had moved the High Court against the complaint by Prachi before Byappanahalli Police Station. Rahul G Patil, son of President Pratibha Patil's late brother Gunvath Singh Patil, married Prachi on September 7, 2007.
According to Prachi she was harassed by Aruna Patil, Priya Patil and others for dowry.
Rahul filed a matrimonial case against Prachi at Mumbai. The latter shifted to Bangalore to stay with her brother and lodged a complaining against her husband and in-laws at Byappanahalli police station.
