Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) Chairman P B Ramamurthy said though there is no problem in bringing water to Bangalore the water distribution within the City has been hampered.  "We are not able to pump water continuously due to unscheduled power cuts which has affected our water distribution in the City. Whenever the water distribution cycle is affected due to power disruption, we try to supply water during the unscheduled supply timings whenever we receive power and our pumping station resumes work," he said.

Of the 45 pumping stations in the City only four stations - High Grounds, Malleshwaram, LLR near Vidhana Soudha and Hegganahalli - have generators. The chairman said they cannot have generators at every pump house as they have installed it only where large reservoirs are located. However, an official from BWSSB said even at the four pumping stations, it takes 15 to 20 minutes to switch on back-up power sources and resume pumping work.
