Karnataka to buy 500 MW of additional power: CM

The chief minister was speaking at a BJP rally in Mysore city.The chief minister said he was ready to spend Rs 10 per unit of power inthe interest of the people. He wanted Opposition leader in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah to wait till then, as he had been demanding the chief minister to step down, for failing to address the crisis.

Yeddyurappa said the State has already been already purchasing 750 MW of power and assured of surplus power as most of the companies in the realm had entered into a Memorandum of Understanding during the recently concluded Global Investors Meet in Bangalore.

The State will get additional power in just three years, he exuded confidence.
In Mysore, the chief minister said a special meeting will be convened on August 16 to discuss the power crisis in the State. An additional 1,000 MW will be purchased in September, he added.
