Almost all the departments witnessed poor turnout of the students, as the student organisation had informed the students  in prior about the bandh. A few students who were walking towards their classes were requested to skip classes for the day in support of the call and the students obliged too. Meanwhile, the offices functioned as usual.

The activists of ABVP in association with Save Mysore University Forum, who had staged a stir for several days in front of Crawford Hall recently over the same issue, staged a token protest in front of the University Library.

They demanded for fresh process quashing recruitments to all the 152 posts that had been filled during the tenure of then VC Prof J Shashidhar Prasad.

They also flayed Governor H R Bhardwaj, who is also the Chancellor of the University for taking unilateral stand over the issue.

Their other demands included nominating representatives of student organisations for committee on education of the University, bringing Centre for Information Science and Technology (CIST) under the ambit of the University, besides revising the fee structure to help poor and meritorious students avail the facility, desi dress code for the graduates during the convocation and punishment to those student who were involved in evaluation scam.

Siege

As part of their phase wise protest, ABVP will be laying siege to Crawford Hall on August 17. Students of all the colleges under University of Mysore from Mandya, Chamarajanagar and Hassan districts too will be participating in the protest. If the authorities concerned fail to address the issue, a State-wide protest has been planned on August 18.

Zonal co-ordinator, ABVP, Udayprakash, secretary, Hemanthkumar, K S Shivaramu and Prof K S Bhagwan of Save Mysore University Forum participated in the protest.
