Board today, gone tomorrow?

Sources said, the authorities concerned in their eagerness to dig the earth to install the board had erected the same on the telephone cable connecting to the official residence of IGP (Southern range) A S N Murthy and Police Commissioner Sunil Agarwal and other houses in the surrounding areas. Subsequently, telephones had gone dead. Upon receiving the complaint, technicians belonging to BSNL allegedly dug the earth near to the board to re-install the cable, resulting in a portion of the board developing a crack before falling on the compound.

It was the same circle that had been in news from the past three years. The police authorities had decided to install the bust of slain SP Harikrishna, at the circle, thus inviting the wrath of the MCC. The MCC had opposed the same, as it had been earlier decided to name the circle after Kittur Rani Chennamma. This led to a high drama with MCC stalling police’s plans to open the bust on the eve of the function in 2007. Recently, both the police and MCC arrived on a consensus and decided to dedicate the bust, besides naming the circle after police martyr’s. Another circle next to this, was named after Kittur Rani Chennamma.
