It is a noteworthy development that though members of Stree Shakti organisations and other women SHGs bag success in various fields silently, they hold key positions in public offices too. H Jaya has been appointed as the first women Tahsildar for the taluk.
Following this, many offices in the taluk have got women officers. Vasanthi has been posted as the Assistant Director in the Horticulture Department and Sarvamangalamma occupies the position of Principal in Government PU College.
While Advocate Kalpana is the Assistant Public Prosecutor in the taluk, Swarna is the sub inspector. Several other departments too have women officials in the taluk.
In addition to government offices, the Town Panchayat too is being headed by women. While Rukmini Suresh is the TP President, D Usha Manjunath has been elected as the Vice-President.
Out of 14 Gram Panchayats in the taluk, women were elected as the presidents in 7 panchayats.
