Last Updated 18 June 2009, 19:41 IST

The case relates to a two-year-old boy who travelled along with his parents from the United States and landed at the Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) on June 14. A second throat swab sample of the boy has been collected and sent to National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune for further confirmation.

However, tests on the throat swab samples of the boy’s parents including his brother were negative.

Seventeen patients visited RGICD on Thursday, out of whom two baby girls - one eight- months-old and the other, one-and-a-half-year-old -  who arrived from Dubai and Singapore respectively were sent from BIA.

22 samples

In all, 22 samples collected on Thursday including the five from the patients admitted in RGICD, were sent to the NIV, Pune.

Meanwhile, the three cases confirmed positive for the virus on Wednesday are doing well.  Dr Shivraj from RGICD said that the patients, including the previous two cases, were stable and reacting to the medicines positively, showing signs of recovery.
