The deceased Mamatha (19) was married to Dharma just nine months ago and the latter had placed his demand for dowry soon after a month of their marriage. The body of Mamatha, who was three months pregnant, was found dumped under a tree on Tuesday afternoon at around 1.30 pm. Mamatha’s father Raju has lodged a complaint with the police.
Mamatha’s husband Dharma, mother Tangyamma, brother Eerappa have been absconding. Enraged Mamatha’s relatives torched Dharma’s house and reduced it to cinders. A case has been registered.
