Speaking at the district-level review meeting on Saturday, he expressed concern over those officials who failed to provide details on the MGNREGS works being implemented in their departments. “What was the need to attend the meeting without providing complete details on the works being undertaken. Nobody has taken the work seriously. The officials do not have complete knowledge on the scheme.”
Zilla Panchayat Deputy Secretary Basavarajappa said under MGNREGS, a sum of Rs 54 crore has been sanctioned to the district. An action plan of Rs 107.90 crore has been submitted to the government. About 2.5 crore has been released by the government in the first phase. Last week, a sum of Rs 3.5 crore has been released. About Rs 50 lakh of the last year was pending. On a whole, a sum of Rs 6.5 crore is available under MGNREGS in the district. So far, Rs 20 lakh has been spent.
He directed the officials to complete the work at the earliest.

ZP in charge project officer Shabeerpasha said under Sampoorna Sawacchatha Andolan, the target was to construct 33,996 toilets. Of which, 28,982 toilets have been constructed. However, Pasha failed to provide details on the number of toilets which were constructed between April till date. ZP Executive Engineer Keshavamurthy said under Suvarna Gramodaya Yojane, works worth Rs 1,153 lakh has been undertaken in 31 villages. A sum of Rs 980 lakh has been spent.

The government has given approval to Rs 13.80 crore to undertake drinking water projects in the district during 2010-11. Of which, Rs 604.80 lakh has been released, he informed. District-in-Charge Secretary directed TO EOs to take back those houses which the beneficiaries have failed to use under various housing schemes.
Sericulture department officials said that 33 acres of land are engaged in sericulture in the district. The area under sericulture could not be extended in the district.

District-in-Charge Secretary directed the ZP Deputy Secretary to issue notices to all those officials who remained absent to the meeting. In the backdrop of Deputy Commissioner expressing displeasure over Khadi and Rural Development department official, the District-in-Charge Secretary directed to initiate action against the officials concerned.
