Raja seat waits for developers

No official in tourism dept to carry out follow up of Rs 1 cr proposal

Owing to the lack of will power on the part of elected representatives and officials, the proposal has remained only in paper.

There are no shortage of tourist spots in the district. In fact, a recently held interaction with MP H Vishwanath discussed on the tourism development. The MP had stressed the need for developing tourism to improve the economic condition and to provide employment opportunity to the locals.

A proposal of Rs one crore had been submitted to the government with regard to the development of Raja Seat. However, there are no officials in the tourism department to carry out a follow up of the proposal.
The previous DC Subodh Yadav had planned to extend the Raja Seat in five acre land adjacent to the park and set up view point to allow the tourists to enjoy the beauty of the nature.

However, after his transfer, nobody bothered to think about the plan.
After the formation of Raja Seat Development Committee, no much development has taken place. In 2009-10, Raja Seat has fectched income of Rs 13,32,252. Of which, Rs 12,75,067 has been spent.

In the recently held KDP meeting, Horticulture Department Deputy Director had given in writing that the funds were used for maintenance of musical fountain, cleanliness, ticket counter, salary of employees, security guard, electricity bill, repair of borewell, prizes for the winners of flower show, purchase of ticket book, printing of banner, purchase of paper roll, panel board purchase and steel ralings for the amphitheatre.
