Last Updated 19 June 2009, 17:21 IST

Following a writ petition by one M R Chikkaramegowda filed on June 4 , the High Court single bench comprising Justice Venugopal Gowda on June 10, directed the State government’s  higher education and medical education departments to consider the representation within three-month time and respond to the petitioner.

Chikkaramegowda had stated in his petition that his daughter M C Padmashree, a student of Kendriya Vidyalaya had availed of the single girl child reservation policy of the Central government to obtain admission for classes 11 and 12. However, he argued in his petition that the KEA not adhering to this policy of the Central government during CET counselling had become an impediment to his daughter’s chances.

Government advocate Manohar said, framing a policy for the quota will take a long time and counselling for CET 2009 was already under way when the petition was filed.
