Possibility of shifting high school to be explored

Deccan Herald had carried a report on the pathetic condition of the college caught in a tussle between Mahalakshmi Layout legislator N L Narendra Babu and Suresh Kumar, the Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs to retain the college in their respective constituencies.

The Mahalakshmi Layout Assembly constituency was constituted out of Rajajinagar and Malleswaram constituencies following delimitation. The visit of the DDPI follows a direction from the Minister to ascertain whether the high school could be shifted elsewhere to house the college in the building permanently.

Majority of the students at the high school come from areas in and around Kurubarahalli where a higher primary school is located. Suresh Kumar has proposed to merge the higher primary school with the high school. He has suggested to house the new high school after the merger at Kurubarahalli as it enables to retain the college at Rajajinagar Second Block.

However, things are not as easy as they seem since staff of both the schools are opposed to the merger idea. This is the last option left out for the minister. He has decided to leave college to Mahalakshmi Layout constituency and seek for another government college for Rajajinagar constituency if the DDPI’s report goes against him, sources close to the minister revealed.
