A splendid collection from Gujarat

Varied Craft

On display will be salwar kameez from Gujarat with batik, applique and mirror work; trendy batik kurtis in dark shades embellished with glasswork and eye-catching block-printed cotton saris. A fabric, reminiscent of youth and romance, bandhini, can also be found here.

There are also articles made with mirrors like cushion work, bags, letter-stands with elephant and floral motifs, decorative puppets made out of cloth, wall-pieces, file-holders and dish mats. Another highlight is the traditional Ajraku and Chuuni (blockprint) from Kutch. A large number of garments like salwar suits, jackets, skirts, saris and bed spreads made with block prints are here.

Gujarati jewellery is heavy in style. One can find quality jewellery of Deesa in North Gujarat and Rajkot on display. There are also Australian gunmetal beads, cut and faceted in Ahmedabad, Surat, and Rajkot into chains, decorative bells, and balls. Do not miss chikan kurtas for men, chanya choli for kids, Sambhalpuri cotton saris, wooden furniture, khadi cloth and kurtas. Other items you can find here include leather bags, deco painting, imitation jewellery, jute chairs, bags, wall-hanging, frames, and hair clips.

The exhibition is open on Sundays also. The timing is 10 am to 9 pm. Craftpersons from all over the country are participating in this exhibition.
