A treat for eyes and ears

Sonu Nigam

Though there were many wonderful performances, the highlight of the evening was the splendid performance by Sonu Nigam.

While the much-awaited programme was delayed by one-and-a-half hours, the audience waited with bated breath to catch Sonu Nigam live. The musical evening commenced with a percussion ensemble by Laya Lavanya team headed by Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma.

The team comprising 11 members succeeded in transporting the audience to a magical world. They made use of more than 20 musical instruments and the ensemble entertained the audience for nearly an hour. The sound of mridangam, morching, nagari, tabla, ghatam, mouth organ and other instruments reverberated in the ears of the listeners for a long time.

The next performance was by the Vibes team who set the stage on fire with their dancing skills. The team of two boys and five girls performed to the beats of contemporary music which was well choreographed. After this, they grooved to popular Kannada remix songs like Yelu Male Myaleri, Elliruve Manava Kaaduva, Neeve Nanna Taayi Tande, Baare Santege Hogona, Madhya Rathrili, Bangaari Yaare, Hey Paaro and Chitranna.

The next performer was none other than Sonu Nigam. The audience went crazy when he entered the stage with a flashing smile. When the king of melody crooned Anisuthide from Mungaru Male, the audience showed their appreciation with a big round of applause.

Ninnindale from Milana, Nee Sanihake from Maleyalli Jotheyalli and Ee Sanje Yaakagide from Geleya were the other songs he sang with equal amount of passion and involvement.
