No police excess in Kulai case: DCP

Answering to a query raised by a Dalit organisation at the SC/ST grievances meeting on Sunday, he said that police used force only to open the door when someone refused to open the door, which can not be termed as ‘torture’.  However, Lingappa alleged that the police assaulted Sona and her sister Shaina by using filthy language. He also alleged that the police dragged Shaina to police station without lady police accompanying her. The police reportedly told the family members that they were searching for a person related to a case registered at Peenya in Bangalore.  The Surathkal police were only assisting the Bangalore police to trace the accused.

Plea

Veeranjaneya Samithi members urged the police to allow them to practice band in their gym. They said that police had asked them to stop the band practice. Samithi’s Chandrahas said that they were practicing band in the gym for the last several years between 5 pm and 7 pm.

Ramesh said that rules and regulations have to be followed while practicing band as it should not create noise pollution. The band was stopped following complaints from the neighbours.  Two students have been proved guilty for writing defamatory letter agaist a lecturer of Mangalore University.

ASP Girish said that the Forensic Science Lab report is ready and it has identified two students as guilty for writing defamatory letter.

The letter using forged signatures, was sent to Mangalore University and a police complaint was registered at Konaje police station in this regard.
