The armed heist took place around 9.30 am at the branch located on Shimpoli Road. "We are awaiting more details," said a police official from the Borivli police station. "Five armed men held the security guards at gunpoint and entered the bank. They made away with Rs 26 lakh," said an HDFC spokesperson.
The bank had just opened. "There were a few customers in the bank, but they were not hurt," the spokesperson said.
