Rain fury: Tree falls on classroom

DDPI Mahidas told Deccan Herald that the tiles fell on the  students.  Udupi district recorded rainfall of 108.9 mm in the last 24 hours. Udupi taluk registered 103.8 mm, Karkala recorded 108.4 mm and Kundapur received 115.6 mm rain.

In Shimoga

The canal of Ambligolla reservoir has breached near Kappanahalli-Tumbekere in Shikaripur taluk, submerging hundreds of acre of farm land. The overflowing streams have flooded the fields in Haramaghatta and Sominakoppa hobli of Shimoga taluk.

Four houses have collapsed in Holalur hobli of Shimoga taluk. Heavy rain was reported from Sagar, Tirthahalli and Bhadravati taluks also. Water level in Linganamakki reservoir has reached 1,800 feet mark on Tuesday due to torrential downpour in the catchment areas.The inflow to the reservoir, which was 10,978 cusec on Monday, has increased to 50,000 cusec.

Water level here touched 1,800 feet mark on Tuesday at 3 pm. Water level in the reservoir has risen by 2.5 feet in a span of 24 hours. Linganamakki has received 160 mm rain.

Inflow to Bhadra reservoir also has increased to 15,490 cusec and 175.5 feet water was recorded here. The River Tunga is flowing near the danger mark in the City as 70,000 cusec water is being discharged from Gajanur reservoir.
