In a memorandum to the Governor, the residents have alleged the centuries old temple belongs to the government.

But the revenue earned by the temple through public contribution is going into the hands of an individual, who is the trustee.

The Governor, being the Constitutional head, should immediately appoint an administrative officer and conduct an inquiry into the irregularities. The government is frequently changing the Muzrai Minister which has hampered the administration of the temple, the residents said.

The Ambalpady temple earns not less than Rs three to four crore a year besides owning properties worth Rs 100 crore. The family trustee’s claim over the temple should not be entertained as the government documents showed othewise. The residents also released a copy of the Record of Rights to establish that the temple belonged to the government.

The residents said the Endowment Act of 2003 has not been implemened in toto. Politicians and officials are eager to handover the temple to the trustee. Minister V S Acharya has spoken in favour of delimiting the temple despite people protesting it. The government has a file which explained the alleged irregularities in the temple, the residents said.
