Faculty Development programme

Jain University-Centre for Management Studies is organising a national-level Faculty Development Programme called Work-Life Balance on September 18, 2010 at Hotel Atria in Bangalore. The day-long seminar is being conducted for educators, corporate trainers, counsellors, professors, students and research associates. Speakers such as Dr R Chenraj Jain, Chairman, JGI;       Snehal Mantri, Director-Marketing, Mantri Developers; Prof Vasanthi Srinivasan, IIM-B will present papers at the seminar. Story writing workshop

The British Council, Bangalore, is organising a story writing workshop for 10-14 year-olds. The first three hours of the workshop will be dedicated to understanding writing techniques, brainstorming for story ideas and putting together plot lines and punch lines. The last hour of the workshop will be dedicated to putting together a humourous piece. The aim is to submit a story of about 250 words. The best story will be published online. Registration fee is Rs 500 per participant. The event will be held at The British Library between 10 am and 2 pm on September 18, 2010. Learn Chinese

The Bangalore Chapter of the Chinese Institute of Chennai has launched a 40-hour course that teaches conversational Mandarin, and reading and writing skills in Pinyin.

Pinyin is a romanized spelling system of the Chinese language, used to represent Chinese sounds with European letters. Acting workshop

Orange Sky Productions will conduct a two-month workshop on acting for film and theatre, starting September 11, 2010. There will be two sessions a week where participants will undergo training in developing emotional intelligence, movement and speech, dialogue delivery, characterisation etc. The workshop will be conducted at Pitter Patter Nursery School, 3rd Block, Koramangala, Bangalore. MoU for twinning programme

Lovely Professional University recently signed an MoU with the University of Missouri. Students pursuing an undergraduate engineering course at LPU shall be eligible under this MoU to complete half their course at LPU and the other half at Missouri University. Clinical Research programme

Accenture and the Institute of Clinical Research in India (ICRI) have announced that they will jointly develop a Pharmacovigilance and Clinical Research programme. The postgraduate diploma programme will span 6 to 12 months (360 hours). The course covers the following  modules: Basics of Clinical Research, Pharmacology, Pharmacovigilance and Regulations, Case Processing, Aggregate Report, Risk Management in Pharmacovigilance & Signal Detection. The Accenture-ICRI diploma programme is targeted at postgraduate students. Eligibility criterion for an applicant is Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy or Life Sciences.
