Biz ethics prevent me from bidding for CWG contracts: Kapil

"I have a problem in getting government contracts because of my business ethics and hence did not bid for any tenders floated for the Commonwealth Games," Kapil said here.

When asked for an elaboration, he merely said that his "policies differ" when it comes to working with government officials and hinted at the government departments' rigid set of rules which makes it difficult for him to work with them.

"When it comes to private contracts, I challenge, I can beat anyone. It is so because private companies want the best and go around looking for it," the former India captain said.

The Haryana Hurricane has been running a company-Kapil Dev Musco Lighting-for the last 14 years which specialises in sport lighting and has bagged contracts for many stadia in the Indian sub-continent as well as the Middle-East.

The company is a joint venture between Kapil and US-based Musco Lighting. "I saw their (Musco's) facilities during my cricketing days and said sport will soon enter into the evenings in India as people do not have the time (in the day). Test matches used to be played then -- now you have the Twenty20 matches... My thinking was correct," he said.

Besides, Kapil has recently taken a 30 per cent stake in Doehle Danautic Logistics and Trading which offers corrosion-proof painting solutions, door-to-door logistics, warehousing and trucking.
