University College gets NAAC 'A' grade

According to a press release, the college went for accreditation in the year 2004 and was awarded B++ Grade which was valid from 2004- 2009. The NAAC Committee that visited the college during 2004 gave suggestions for the improvement of the college, which the University took up seriously and worked on measures to improve the College.

The college started a post-graduate program MBA (International Business) during 2009-10 and has started post -graduate program in commerce (MCom) this year. As many as 65 students are admitted to the course. The University has plans to develop the infrastructure of the College and start some more post-graduate courses in the college.

The College was centre for education of many a talented youth of the latter part of the 19th century. Panje Mangesh Rao who is the premier of Kannada short stories, Rashtrakavi Manjeshwara Govinda Pai, well known writer and once Governor of Reserve Bank of India Benegal Rama Rao, social activist Kamaladevi Chattopadhyaya, freedom fighter Karnad Sadashiva Rao, Social reformer Kudmul Ranga Rao, Statesman A B Shetty and Suryanarayana Adiga, a well known personality in Banking arena, are some of the famous alumni who studied in this college.
