HC dismisses Madani's plea to quash charge sheet

Justice Subhash B Adi ruled the materials presented by the prosecution during the hearing revealed prima facie evidence that the petitioner was in contact with the other accused in the charge sheet.

The judge observed that the evidence provided by the prosecution pointed out that Madani had some contact with the accused and had also visited their training place. It revealed that some of the accused were harboured at his place and he even assisted a few in escaping from the country.

The court refused to take into account the  counsel’s argument that his client was highly respected and a political leader in Kerala, stating that these circumstances cannot be taken into account for quashing of charge sheet.

The judge felt that charges against Madani was against the State and not an individual and hence, was a threat to the sovereignty of the country.
