Steps to ensure people-friedly policing: IGP

IGP Alok Mohan

Addressing presspersons here, he said that every case coming to the police station would be registered. A complainants’ day will be held on every third Sunday, where complainants will be briefed about the status of each case. He said people should have faith in police system. Stating that media plays a role in good policing, he termed media as a mirror to the society.

Naxal activities

The IGP said that naxalite activities had come down significantly in Udupi and Chikmagalur districts. The credit for curbing naxalite activities should go to the police and the intensive measures taken by them. But the department is not resting on its laurels. “We are watchful and if needed, we will carry out combing operations whenever necessary.” On the alleged terrorism and underground activities in coastal districts, he said: “We will get to the bottom of the issue. We will cut all their links and take action.” He said that there are adequate number of police constables in the Western Range and they will be made more efficient.
Superintendent of Police Pravin Pawar was present.
