While the apex court did not allow the counsel Harish Salve to withdraw the document filed by the company claiming that these were part of case that was dismissed by the Delhi High Court.

"Our lawyers are filing an application to tender unconditional apology to the Honourable Court," Tatas said in a statement within hours of the embarrassing incident, wherein the government counsel challenged the document saying these were dated after the dismissal of the case in the high court.

The incident took place when the apex court commenced hearing on Tata Power's petition challenging the usage of coal from captive mines by rival Anil Ambani led Reliance Power for projects other than Rs 20,000 crore Sasan power project in Madhya Pradesh from where the former has bowed out of the race.
