Amidst the riches

National Geographic presents Dubai Week on September 14 at 9 pm. The programme showcases the Dubai Mega Mall. Dubai is a tiny desert emirate which has become the leisure capital of the oil rich Gulf.

Centrepiece of this new Dubai will be a shopping mall — The Dubai Mall — designed to outstrip all malls. With the largest indoor aquarium, an Olympic-sized ice rink, a roller coaster, 1200 shops and a slogan as brash as its scale — Everything You Desire, the mall is all to meet its next-to-impossible deadline.

Riding on its success is a price tag that has run into millions and still counting. Watch the show to find out out more about this mall.

Reflecting reality

Watch the movie ATL on WB on September 14 at 9 pm. The movie is about four teenagers, who come of age in a working-class Atlanta neighbourhood, where hip-hop sizzles and roller skating rules.

Seventeen-year-old Rashad (Tip Harris) was forced to become the man of the house early. Since the death of his parents, he has been responsible for himself and his little brother, Ant (Evan Ross).

As Rashad tries to keep Ant in school and out of trouble, the only bright spot in his life is New-New (Lauren London), who sees something special in him, something more than he sees. When the two meet, Rashad’s future starts to open up for the first time.  But New-New has a secret that’s getting harder and harder to keep.

Dangerous stunts

Spreading cheer

Ganesha Chaturthi was celebrated in a grand manner on Star Plus’ Chhote Ustaad — Do Deshon Ki Ek Awaaz. There was a lot pomp and cheer on the sets as a very special guest turned up on the show — Urmila Matondkar.

Everyone knows of Urmila Matondkar’s amazing talents and her extremely successful career, but on the show this week, people also learned of her amazing generosity.
During this week’s episode, the Chhote Ustaad’s were extremely enthusiastic about meeting Urmila and hearing her sing her childhood favourite song Lakdi Ki Kathi, from her movie Masoom.

She also said that she had brought a special friend with her especially to meet Moon, one of her favourite contestants.  To everyone’s surprise, it was the little lakdi ka ghoda (wooden horse) that she gifted him. Wow now that’s what we call luck! Little Moon’s stars are really shining.

Keep watching Chhote Ustaad — Do Deshon Ki Ek Awaaz every Saturday and Sunday at 9 pm on Star Plus.
