Powerful warriors

Discover the new air combat machines in Discovery Science’s Showdown Air Combat. Fighter pilots are the warriors of the sky.

Jousting on aerial steeds made of steel, speeding through the skies at hundreds, sometimes thousands of miles per hour. Their goal? To get the other guy before he gets them.

Speed and maneuverability are two of the most important features in a combat fighter. The Japanese Zero had both — making it the deadliest plane in the Pacific during the early months of World War II.

But with the right pilots and tactics, sometimes a fighter that’s lacking one of these qualities can just be as effective. The show airs on September 15 at 9.30 pm.
