Faculty Development programme

Jain University-Centre for Management Studies is organising a national-level Faculty Development Programme called Work-Life Balance on September 18, 2010 at Hotel Atria in Bangalore. The day-long seminar is being conducted for educators, corporate trainers, counsellors, professors, students and research associates.

US universities woo students in India

IDP Education will soon be conducting the first US Universities Global Fair in India. Representatives from leading US universities will be visiting India to talk to students about higher education opportunities in the United States.

A total of 22 universities will be present at the fair. The fair will be conducted in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad from September 25 to October 3, 2010. College representatives and experts will host seminars on management and engineering courses in the United States.

MBA, PG diploma and E-MBA courses

Indian Institute of Trade and Commerce is offering MBA, PG Diploma and Executive MBA programmes in Human Resource Development, Operations & IT through distance education mode. Graduates from any discipline or a three-year polytechnic degree may apply for the programme.

Story writing workshop

The British Council, Bangalore is organising a story writing workshop for 10-14 year-olds. The first three hours of the workshop will be dedicated to understanding writing techniques, brainstorming for story ideas and putting together plot lines and punch lines.

The last hour of the workshop will be dedicated to writing a humourous piece. The aim is to submit a story of about 250 words. The best story will be published online. egistration fee is Rs 500 per participant. The event will be held at The British Library between 10 am and 2 pm on September 18, 2010. Diploma course in interior design

Creators and Designers  Institute of Interior Design has launched a part-time, one-year diploma programme in interior design. Admissions are open and classes will be conducted on weekdays in batches between 8 am and 10 am, and 10.30 am and 12.30 pm. The weekend batch will be conducted between 10 am and 2 pm.

Course curriculum will cover topics such as vaastu, landscaping, colours, flooring, furniture, plumbing and sanitary, false ceiling, lighting, acoustics, rain water harvesting, solar power system, security and safety. Material seminars, site visits, case studies and field training are an integral part of the course.

The institute will also provide placement assistance for students who successfully complete the course. TOEFL scholarships for Indian students

Educational Testing Service (ETS) has announced the winners of the 2010 TOEFL® Scholarship Program in India. ETS, the creator of the TOEFL test, awarded seven high-performing Indian students with $50,000 for postgraduate study in 2010-2011.
