Tata Motors global sales grow by 29 pc in August

Sales of luxury brands from Jaguar Land Rover were at 16,220 units during August, up 29 per cent from the same month last year, Tata Motors said in a statement.

While sales of luxury sedans of Jaguar brand jumped by 33 per cent last month at 3,788 units, Land Rover sales were higher by 28 per cent at 12,432 units, it added.

It said total passenger vehicles sales stood at 44,232 units in August 2010, a growth of 33 per cent from the corresponding month last year.

Commercial vehicles sales were also up by 25 per cent to 40,882 units from the same month last year, it added.

The Tata Motors Group global sales comprises Tata, Tata Daewoo and Hispano Carrocera range of commercial vehicles, Tata passenger vehicles along with the distributed brands in India, Jaguar and Land Rover.

During the April-August period, total vehicle sales rose 42 per cent at 4,24,938 units.
While total passenger vehicle sales increased by 49 per cent at 2,32,326 units, commercial vehicle sales jumped 35 per cent at 1,92,612 units in the first five months of this fiscal.
