Sangeetha Rupaka captivates many

The Sangeetha Rupaka was directed by Vidwan G R Rangaswamy and presented by Vidushis: Koviladi R Kala, Ranjini Kaushik, Jamuna Srinivas, Padma Vishwanath, Nalini Chander, Vasantha, Shanthalakshmi Srinivas and Meera.

The musicians were supported by Vidushi Aditi Krishna Prasad on violin, Vidwan G T Swamy on Mrudangam, Vidwan M R Rajesh on flute and Vidushi Subhadra on Taala. H S Sridhara Rao of MLM presented a Vyakhyana on Sri Narayanatheertha, Sri Krishna Avathara and Tharangas sung during the Sangeetha Rupaka.

The composer of Sri Krishnaleela Tharangini, Saint Narayanatheertha was born in 1675. His work is in praise of Sri Krishna and the Tharangas are melodious, rhythmic and are appropriate for Nrithya and Yakshagaana. The programme was started with Jaya Jaya Swamin in Raga Saurastra and Adi Taala and followed by Jaya Jaya Ramanatha in Nata Raaga and Triputa Taala, Pooraya Mama Kaamam in Bilahari Raaga, Adi Taala, Kalaya Kalyanani Narayana in Purvi Kalyani Raaga, Adi Taala, Kalyana Gopalam in Sindhu Bhairavi Raaga, Khanda Chapu Taala, Krishnam Kalaya Sakhi in Mukhari Raaga, Adi Taala, Govardhana Giri Dhara in Darbari Kanada Raaga, Adi Taala, Govinda Miha in Bageshree Raaga, Triputha Taala, Bhavaye Sakhi in Neelamani Raaga, Adi Taala, Paahi Paahi in Nadanama Kriya Raaga, Adi Taala, Parama Purusha in Behag Raaga, Adi Taala, Deva Devam in Sindhu Bhairavi Raaga, Triputha Taala and finally concluded by Vijaya Gopalate Mangalam in Surati Raaga, Adi Taala.
