The meet was organised to interact with the importers/exporters of Karnataka, especially from the Hassan region, where large volume of containerised cargo is being generated. The exporters of commodities like coffee, linen, garments and textiles, gherkins and importers of coal. Senior officials from Railways, ICD, CWC, KIADB and container mainline operators attended the meeting.
NMPT Chairman P Tamilvanan requested the traders to make use of New Mangalore Port which is just 165 kms away from Hassan for moving their cargo and avail benefits.
