Death in hospitals: High-level committee probe ordered

Zilla Panchayat Standing Committee on Health and Education President Manu Muthappa said that Bopaiah had contacted him over the phone from Switzerland. “He has taken note of the issue and said that the high level committee should probe into the incident.”
Bopaiah has left for Nairobi in Kenya to take part in Commonwealth countries Assembly presiding officers’ meet.

MP condoles
MP H Vishwanath has condoled the death of three persons following administration of drugs.
In a press release, he has urged the health officials to conduct a probe into the incident and initiate action against the culprits.
The MP has also contacted Zilla Panchayat CEO A B Ibrahim, DHO Dr Shivaram Nayak and collected details on the incident.

He said that the district has severe shortage of doctors. Dengue, H1N1 diseases should be  treated properly. In this background, he has urged the government to fill the vacancies of doctors and para medial staff in the government hospitals in the district.
The district hospital does not have emergency unit and hence he has promised to release fund from the MP fund for the emergency unit. Vishwanath has said that he will visit Madikeri on September 30 and hold meeting with the health officials. The MP will also visit the family of the deceased, release added.

Officials from Drug Controller inspect
Following the death of three persons after administering injection, the officials from Drug Controller inspected the Suntikoppa Hospital’s pharmacy on Monday.
The team lead by Drug Controller Unit’s Assistant Director Revanna Siddaiah inspected the pharmacy till afternoon and refused to give any details on the findings.
In the meantime, Zilla Panchayat President V M Vijaya, Standing Committee on Health and Education President Manumuthappa, DHO Dr Shivaram Nayak visited Suntikoppa hospital and promised to solve the problems being faced by the hospital and also provide an ambulance to the Suntikoppa PHC.
