Beautician course for transgenders

An exclusive helpline for women to be opened in all taluks

Those who excel in the course will get Rs 400 per month for their livelihood, she told presspersons here on Monday.

She further stated that the Corporation would hold village meetings to know how much the government’s programmes are reaching the beneficiaries.
At least two to three thousand women would be  given self-employment this year.
Under the Devadasi Rehabilitation Programme, Rs 400 per month is provided to them, she added.

Under the Udyogini Yojana, women whose annual income is less than Rs 40,000 can avail loan up to Rs one lakh.
On a priority basis, the department will help open industries that are related to sericulture, as Chikkaballapur and Kolar districts are known for silk production.

Resource training centre
At the resource training centres, women will be provided training on silk garland making, food processing, tailoring, computer and dairy farming. A women resource centre will soon be set up at the Kolar district. These centres will provide platform to the women to market their products.

The district, under the Udyogini Yojana, was provided Rs 15 lakh and as many as 92 beneficiaries were provided training, last year. This year too Rs 31 lakh has been released for the district, she added.
The Corporation is contemplating to open an exclusive helpline for women at all the district and taluk centres, she added.

Women and Child Welfare Department Deputy Director Shahar Banu, Industry Promotion Officer Parvathi and others were present.
