IET inaugurates student cell for engineering students 

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has opened a Student Chapter in Bangalore at BMS College of Engineering. The IET Student Chapter, which is open to all students below the age of 35, is a sub-unit of the IET Bangalore Network.  Some of the benefits offered to students include access to online communities, competitions and awards, free publications – bimonthly engineering and technology magazines, personality development through local events/ lectures/ talks, access to library as a member through the online catalogue service, and scholarships.

MAAC wins Best Short Film Award

Students from Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC) recently won the Best Short Film Award at the Anime Cine Experience, 2010, a three-day film festival organised by Cine Darbaar in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan, Directorate of Film Festivals, Japan Foundation. The festival was held at the Siri Fort auditorium in Delhi. The jury at the festival awarded ‘Always’, the short film made by the students of MAAC. The film also bagged the second runners up award in 24FPS animation awards organised by MAAC. The festival showcased Japanese short-films like The Girl who Leapt Through Time, Grave of the Fireflies, 5cm Per Second, Voices of Distant Star, The Place Promised in Our Early Days. The festival showcased Japanese comics, documentaries, short films, pop-culture exhibits etc. The festival also hosted an exhibition of Manga art along with a photography exhibition on Japan.
