"Gandhi has asked Siddaramaih to continue in the post," Azad, who is in-charge of Congress affairs in Karnataka, told reporters here.
Siddaramaiah had sent his resignation to Gandhi on September 17 owning moral responsibility for the defeat of Congress in the by-elections held for Gulbarga South and Kadur Assembly constituencies.
While JDS won the Gulbarga seat, BJP wrested Kadur seat from Congress.
