At least, rain god may be merciful

The inaugural ceremony of the Commonwealth Games is unlikely to be marred by a rainy spell as the south-west monsoon is on a receding mode and may well even withdraw from Delhi and the surrounding areas by next week.

“The withdrawal is expected between September 26 and 28,” Ajit Tyagi, Director General of the Indian Meteorological Department told Deccan Herald.

The anti-cyclone systems – a harbinger of clear weather – have already set in the northwest. The humidity is shifting towards the east and temperature in the north-west is on the rise. All these are indicative of the fact that the monsoon is in the withdrawal phase. A rain-free sky on October 3 will provide a prefect backdrop for the organisers to make up for the present mess and put forward a spectacular inaugural show.
