QI am an 18-year-old boy weighing 53 kg. I seem to have gained weight around my hips and thighs. How can I reduce this? Will dieting help?

A Reducing fat on your hips and thighs can be challenging. The best way to go about it is by  exercising. Climb stairs or go trekking. Other exercises that you could take up every day for at least 30-40 minutes are brisk walking, swimming or a game of tennis.

Additionally, do squats (2 sets of 8 repeats) and hip exercises (2 sets of 8 repeats).
When it comes to food, you could reduce portion sizes, cut out junk food and eat wholesome meals. Include green leafy vegetables, fruits, sprouts, nuts, reduced fat milk and milk products, fish and lean meats in your meals.

QI am 21 years old. Every time I wash my face, it becomes really dry and I have to apply a lot of moisturising cream. I also have boils on my forehead. How can I get rid of them?

A Drink at least eight glasses of water every day to keep your skin soft,  supple and moisturised. Water helps remove skin-dulling toxins. Hot water and long showers or baths remove oil from your skin. Limit your bath or shower time to 15 minutes or less, and use warm rather than hot water. Avoid harsh, drying soaps. If you have dry skin, it is best to use cleansing creams or gentle skin cleansers and bath or shower gels with added moisturisers. Moisturise your skin twice a day. This is probably the most effective method to keep your skin hydrated.  The boils on your forehead may be due to sunburn, allergy, acne, dermatitis, etc. Please consult a dermatologist so that the lesions can be appropriately treated.
