Last Updated 24 September 2010, 18:10 IST

Barely few weeks left for the Naada Habba, the asphaltation and recarpeting works on roads have begun and are progressing at a very slow pace.
The authorities are also looking at quenching the thirst of tourist and arranging other basic amenities, including toilet facilities.

Assurance
The tourists arriving at the city during the 10-day Dasara festivities can be rest assured as the district administration which has formed several sub-committees to see to it that the festival is celebrated without any hassles is planning to set up temporary toilets across the city at important junctions and also at the tourist spots, if necessary.

Exploring city
It has come as a good news for those tourists who have planned for the much publicised Explore the city by cycling and walking, which was introduced during last Dasara.
More visitors from both within and outside the country are showing good response to the programme, who love to explore the city on foot.
But the district administration which has been giving much publicity to such unique programmes has failed to think about providing hygienic toilets on the route.
Some existing toilets at few junctions certainly need upgradation and maintenance.

Temporary arrangements
Amba Vilas Palace or the Mysore Palace tops the itinerary of any tourist visiting Mysore during Dasara. This place also rakes huge revenue during the 10-day Naada Habba.
Speaking to Deccan Herald, a member of Dasara Welcome Committee said that there are plans to set up temporary toilets at important junctions and tourist spots on the lines of Panchalinga Darshana in Talkad. The tourists need not suffer from parched throats as drinking water facilities are also made on main roads, he assured.
