Addressing a news conference here, he said that party leaders were suffering from some of kind of ‘disease’ and they were in need of treatment in the party’s interest first.

Clarifying that he was not an aspirant for the KPCC chief’s post, the MP said the incumbent president R V Deshpande should summon all senior leaders and hold a brainstorming session of the core group to diagnose the ‘disease’ within the party and the leaders in the higher cadre.

Sort out differences

Such a meeting could openly discuss the issues like differences among leaders.  To a question on what will the party do about leaders with incurable diseases, he said in a lighter vein that the party had “loads of leaders” and death of one or two leaders would not affect the party in any way.

He asked Deshpande to allow fresh air into the party.   Congress had strength to emerge more stronger without any ally, he replied.

Govts’ flayed

Earlier, Vishwanath also criticised the Union and State Governments for appealing for peace in the wake of the Ayodhya verdict.

“The governments should have shown determination to tell the people of the nation, issuing a strict warning of action against those involving inciting violence.

Through appealing again and again, the governments themselves created panic and scare among citizens. The nation has faced more controversial verdicts in the past,” he said adding that the appeal was actually mocking at the democracy.

Misappropriation

Vishwanath urged Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on the alleged Rs 150 crore misappropriation in distribution of compensation to farmers in the KIADB. He accused the CM’s office of making efforts to bury the case and demanded action against the guilty.
