Varun meets top RSS leaders

 Varun had an hour-long discussion with RSS regional pracharak Ashok Beri. Though it was not immediately known as to what transpired during their meeting, BJP sources said Varun briefed the RSS leader on the hate speech case against him. He is also understood to have expressed his “displeasure” over being “singled out” for the party’s debacle in the elections.

He also suggested measures to strengthen the BJP in Uttar Pradesh in view of the Assembly polls in the state which are due in 2012. State BJP media in-charge Hero Bajpai termed Varun’s visit as private. Varun’s meeting with the RSS leaders also assumes significance in the wake of lobbying by a section of young saffron party legislators to make him  president of the state unit.
