‘I want to get better at math’

A new year is a special time when we celebrate with our family and friends. It is also a time to think about how we can become better and set new goals for ourselves. Every year, I make a new year resolution, which is a promise to myself to improve and learn from my past mistakes.

This year, my main resolution is to get better at math. Last year, I found math difficult and lost marks in my exams. My mother encouraged me to work harder, and I realized that solving math riddles and practicing every day can help me improve. I want to spend more time doing my homework and asking my teacher for help whenever I don’t understand something.

Another resolution I have is to read more books and improve my knowledge and my spellings. Reading books is very important and it will take me to a whole new world. It helps me develop my mind and keep my mind activity and develop my creativity. When I read the books, I am thinking in many ways such as about the plot and what will happen in that book until I finish reading. Reading will also help me to improve my spellings and communication skills. Whenever I find any new words, I don’t try to find the meaning instantly, instead I guess the word meaning based on the word around them and context. I learnt a lot by reading, for example how punctuation is put, grammar, verbs, nouns I can learn from reading.

In conclusion, my new year resolutions are to improve my math skills and be kinder to others. I know it will not be easy, but I will try my best and not give up. I hope that by the end of the year, I will be proud of what I have achieved and become a better person.
