Get your umbrellas and raincoats ready! Bengaluru and parts of Karnataka are set to experience more rain showers over the next two days. This rainy spell is thanks to Cyclone Fengal, which, although it has weakened, still has some punch left to drench our city and neighboring regions.Since Sunday evening, the skies have opened up, showering Bengaluru with continuous rain. According to weather experts from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka are also joining the rain party with widespread showers expected today and a lighter drizzle forecast for Tuesday. The rain is set to take a little break starting Wednesday, so there’s something to look forward to!Here’s the science bit: Cyclone Fengal has now turned into what the weather folks call a 'Depression' over north coastal Tamil Nadu and moved into our area early this morning. This means it's not as strong as a cyclone but still strong enough to bring a lot of rain. For those in Bengaluru, along with places like Hassan, Mandya, and Ramanagara, a yellow alert has been issued. This means keep those rain boots handy as heavy rainfall is on the cards. But wait, there’s more! Places like Udupi, Chikmagaluru, and Chikkabalbura are on orange alert, which is weather-speak for 'expect a lot of rain'—somewhere between a bucket load and a deluge! For the record buffs, here are the details: on December 2nd, Kodagu might just see some extremely heavy rainfall, the kind that makes you think of building an ark! Other districts like Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and a few more are also expected to get their fair share of the downpour.Meanwhile, for safety's sake, schools and colleges in Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Chamarajanagara, and Mysuru are taking a rain check and will be closed on December 2 to keep everyone safe from the slippery, soggy weather.
