Karnataka is indeed making impressive strides in integrating electric vehicles (EVs) into everyday life! Energy Minister K J George announced that the state now boasts an impressive 5,713 EV charging stations, the highest in India, to encourage more people to switch to eco-friendly vehicles.Speaking at the Electric Vehicle Expo for Secretariat employees in Bengaluru, the minister highlighted how Karnataka has been a trailblazer in EV adoption. He mentioned that the state was the first in the country to introduce an EV policy in 2017. Back then, only 11,000 EVs were registered annually. Today, that number has zoomed to 1.5 lakh.So why are EVs so important? Rising petrol prices and air pollution are major concerns, and EVs offer a cleaner, greener solution. At the expo, employees got hands-on experience with different EV models and learned about special benefits like no down payments and low-interest loans. To make things even cooler, 16 EV companies are offering exclusive discounts to government staff. The event is also showcasing how Karnataka is creating a cleaner future with its robust charging infrastructure, managed by BESCOM.With events like this, Karnataka proves it's not just keeping up with the future—it’s leading the way!
