

The Karnataka government is working hard to make the state a global hub for semiconductors, electronics, and advanced manufacturing. To strengthen ties and bring in more investments, M B Patil, Cabinet Minister for Large & Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development is on a visit to Japan with senior officials Selvakumar S and Gunjan Krishna.
The visit is part of the Karnataka government’s broader efforts to attract high-value Japanese investments, reinforcing the state’s position as a leading destination for advanced industries and innovation.
According to the minister’s office, Patil, accompanied by senior officials including Selvakumar S, Principal Secretary, Department of Commerce and Industries, and Gunjan Krishna, Commissioner for Industrial Development and Director, Department of Industries and Commerce, held strategic meetings with Tokyo Electron, Mitsubishi Electric, Honda, Yokogawa Electric, and Restar.

Tokyo Electron: R&D base already in Bengaluru.
Honda: First EV two-wheeler plant in Bengaluru (₹600 cr).
Mitsubishi Electric: CNCs, elevators, UPS & chillers made in Karnataka.
Yokogawa Electric: 2,000+ employees in Bengaluru; expansion soon.
Restar: Starting India JV; looking at Bengaluru for EMS.
